Marissa

Today I felt liking writing about Marissa. She will be 5 in November and is still just so small. I don't know what I would do without her, she is Brett and my entertainment. If we ever need a laugh we just turn to her. But she is also so very sweet. The other day she did something to hurt Kaylie and make her cry. While having a talk with Riss explaining to her that she can't do things like that and that she made her sister cry, Marissa realized what she had done and was broken hearted, she herself started to cry and went and laid down and cuddled up with Kaylie. Then it was Kaylie who was doing the comforting to her little sister. It was a sweet little lesson that she learned.
My grandma passed away this last January and she had spent the previous couple of months living at my Mom's. Since I was in school there was a lot of time that Riss spent at Mom's with my Grandma. They became good buddies. Since Grandma wasn't moving around much, Riss kept her entertained, by cooking all sorts of things that Grandma was craving but couldn't eat because she had had some cancer cut out of the roof of her mouth and couldn't eat. Anyway, the two became good friends. A few months after Grandma died, Marissa was riding in the car and she and Sophie called Jesus ( on thier pretend phones) Marissa wanted to talk to Grandma Pat and ask her some questions. It was so cute. Later on Marissa asked me "If we water Grandma, will she come back to life." I told her no, so then she asked if we put the water in her mouth, would she. Once again No she won't. So how about if we give her medacine. Poor thing, she really misses Grandma. She is also aware that she is in a box, in the ground. But she really does know that she is in heaven with Jesus.
Many of you may also know that she is going to be a lion when she grows up. And she wants to be Scar from Lion King. Right now she thinks that she is growing lion hair on her arms.
She is such a joy to us and we just adore her.

Call Shift

Not a lot has been going on here. Because Brett is now the only provider at the clinic he has been pulling quite a few extra call shifts. It is hard because we can't leave town, and because he gets home around 7, then he almost always gets called in between 8 and 9. The last two nights he got called in in the middle of the night. Last night he had to admit his patient so he wasn't home till 4 and then had to get up to go to work this morning. But every time he gets called in we just think about the fact that we are paying off bills. They have still not hired any other providers yet, and the few that they did interview weren't what they needed here. So for now it is still just Brett. But he loves it here and loves the job so he really doesn't mind.
On another note, we might have found a house to move into. There is a great 2500 square foot house that we can rent with the option to buy, so all our rent will go to the price of the house when and if we decide to go ahead to buy it. This house will be perfect, it sits on a hill and has a great big deck out front, with a nice view of the town. I am very excited. But we are not sure when we will be moving, the owners have to find a house for them to rent first. I will keep you all posted.
We are also putting our house in Oregon up for sale, but I am not sure how the market is doing so it may be up for a while. We do have renters in there now, but I am not sure how happy they are going to be when they find out about us putting it on the market. I am not sure if they will move out or not. But if they do, oh well. I just would love to get rid of the house and not have to worry about dealing with it anymore.
The girls are enjoying summer. They have lots of friends who live so close to us and they get to play all the time. There are some great people here and I am enjoying getting to know them better. We continue to help Keri and Dave with their house if ever they need us. Sometimes I go to help watch the boys so that Keri won't have to worry about them and she can work without distractions. It is so fun to see the house coming along and I can't wait for them to get it done, so that they can have more space.
It is getting close to time for Nathan to come home. He arrives in Medford on September 1st. The girls and I are so excited to see him. As long as they have hired some new providers we are going to take 2 weeks off and spend one in Medford the other at the coast. I can't wait. If it is still just Brett here then just the girls and I will go. But either way we are all very happy.

Back To Montana

Well I am not sure that anyone still looks at this anymore, since it has been 7 months since my last post but oh well if they don't. Brett came back in March to Montana, to the same town we lived in before and to the same job. The girls and I stayed back in Oregon and I was going through the LPN program. But the girls and I were having a very hard time being away from Brett, so we decided to just pack up and come be with Brett. It was a little hard quitting school after all the work that I had put into it. But I am not at a point where I have to work so there was no one saying that I had to finish school now. We discussed and prayed and realized that it is best for our family to be together. So at the end of April we loaded up and came to be with Brett. It is great to be together and great to not be so busy with school that I can actually spend time with my kids. The only thing that stinks is that we are stuck in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment. This town in so small that there is not a lot of housing options. We have a great house that we are looking at out of town on 2 1/2 acres. It has a green house and a shed where you can ride straight out onto forest service. It will be available in September and if that doesn't work out then we will look at buying something. When the weather is nice it is not bad cause we spend our days outside. The temperature here is perfect it is not to hot that you can't spend the day outside, like in Medford. And it cools down at night, unlike Medford. But the trade off is mosquitoes, oh my goodness they are bad. The girls and I are all covered in them.
On another note. Brett got here just in time. He is now the only provider working at the clinic. So he is taking a lot of extra call shifts. But it is helping us to pay off bills and get a bunch saved so it is worth it in the end.
The girls were very happy to be back here, back to their friends from before. The only thing new was the teachers, they finished off their school years. Next year Kaylie will be in 4th grade, (can you believe that she is old enough to be in 4th grade) and Sophie will be a first grader. I still get one more year with Rissa before she starts kindergarden.

Well I will start by apologizing for neglecting my blog. I recently found out that I got into the piratical nursing program. So I will be starting that in January.
Brett will be headed back to Montana in March, back to his job that he had there before. The girls and I will stay here until I am done with school and then we will get to go over also. Brett is very excited to get back there. He was very disappointed with his job here. They were very concerned on how many patients a day they could push through. He would sometimes see 30 people. He would then no get home till 8 or 9. S needless to say he can't wait to get back to a clinic where they actually care about their patients.
Sophie lost her fist two teeth. Her bottom, middle ones. The first one Brett pulled. Then Kaylie and Soph were jumping on the trampoline and Kaylie accidentally kicked soph in the mouth, loosening her tooth. A couple days later Kalyie tied dental floss to sophie's tooth and slammed the door. Out came her tooth. She was so excited to lose her teeth an to get a visit from the tooth fairy.

On October 8th my little sister Jana had her little baby boy, Joseph David Hughes. I am a very proud aunt and my girls just love him so much. Her husband david was out to sea when Joe was born, but returned a week later to meet his newbaby. He is so cute with his son. They had to return to Sand Diego where David is stationed over a week ago and I miss them all so much. Jana is required to send me a picture a day and it so so exciting to see what I will get each day from her. So here he is

Aint he so sweet. I miss them so much. I have never been to close to Jana before, but she came for about 5 months and stayed with our parents. We grew very close and it was exciting to be with her through her pregnancy. I was there for the birth and got to cut the cord, it was awesome.

On another note, two weeks ago I taught Sophie to ride her bike without training wheels, she took off right away and has not stopped since. She loves to ride her bike. Kaylie doesn't know how and is to scared of wrecking to try. Sophie brags about it and it makes Kalyie so mad. So i asked Sophie to please stop, so she says, "i loooove riding that bike" I had to try so hard to not laugh. It was very funny. So she enjoyed riding all around while kaylie sticks to the scooter. Rissa rides her tricycle and even rode it back and forth to the school twice in one day last week, I was surprise that she didn't get tired, but I told her before we left that I was not gonna carry her bike home, so if she didn't ride it all the way we would leave it on the side of the rode. She did it and was so proud of herself.

Just eanted to let everyone know that I got into the LPN program here in Medford. I will start in Januray and finish in September. I am so excited and am glad to have one less step to my finishing goal of my RN. Thanks to all who have supported me through all this school. My Mom especially who has helped so much with taking care of my girls and gets to do so for the next 9 months. She is the best

This September brought a few fun things. Over Labor Day weekend we got to go back to White Sulphur and vist all our friends and enjoy the fun festivities of a small town. We got there just in time to go to the Demolition Derby. Our good friends Keri and Dave organized this event and it was great. It turned out to be a huge gathering. there were lots of people there. It was such great fun, the girls didn't know what to think of it but they had fun running into lots of old friends and playing with them. The folowing day we went to church and saw many frinds there as well. Then we went to the rodeo which was also packed. Marissa loved this with all the horses and cows. Our little pal Seth also rode a sheep and we all got a kick out of that, but he did great. We got to go watch some kello wrestling with a bunch of drunk annoying people and also to a street dance. You gotta love a town when they close off there main roads to have a dance. We realized how mucvh we missed it there and are now aching to be able to go back, someday, hopefully. If not there then some place similar. I really miss Keri and really want to be able to see her more often, I haven't had such a good friend in a long time and really miss the fun times that we had with her and her family. She has such great boys and my girls just love playing with them. I pray that I will be able to stay close to her, she has such a strong testimony and teaches me so many things.

Well it is 2:30 in the morning and I am at work with nothing to do, so I thought I would try to do some catch up on here. So if this sounds funny, it is because I am soooo tired.
I started working a few weeks ago, I work in the pediatrics unit. I love it. I love the little people so much better than the big ones, sorry ya'all. They are so sweet and innocent. yes it is so hard to see them sick, but they need someone to care for them and love them, and i get to do that. It is so gratifying being able to help these little people. They are always willing to give a big smile and are for the most part happy. The hardest part is the poor parents, they are so worried and I don't blame them, I would be be and have been. So I feel blessed to have a job that is fun yet gratifying as well.
The girls have enjoyed having me gone. I am an on call worker, but had been covering for a lady on maternity leave. I was suppose to work four ten hour shifts a week. Nights. But luckily I got called off allot. So anyway the girls have been spending time with my Mom and Aunt Jana and have been loving it. Jana and Mom are great with keeping them entertained and doing fun little things with them.
I am so glad though that the maternity leave lady is back and that I only have to work one day a week. I have had to slack on some of my home duties and Brett has been so great at helping out at home with the kids and dinners.
Brett has been putting in so many hours at work. He is suppose to be working four tens also and has actually been putting in usually twelves. There are three providers at his clinic and one of them has been out sick alllllllot. SO he has all his schedules patients and then also all the walk in patients(from the walk in clinic) as well. Busy days with usually about 20 patients each day. He is sure missing White Sulphur now. They would never see that many, but he will really be bringing in some extra flow.
Anywho, Kaylie was baptised on the 2nd. It was such a wonderful, spiritual and emotional day. She was so pretty in white and so very excited. My Mom spoke on baptism and then she was baptised by Brett. She was so happy when she got out, with a huge smile on her face. Then her Aunt Marjie sang her a beautiful song and said some really sweet things to Kaylie and told her how much she loved her. Then Brett's mom spoke on the Holy Ghost. She and I had a really hard time holding the tears in. Brett then gave her the Holy Ghost and it was awesome. He had a hard time not crying as well and he gave her a wonderful blessing. I want to thank all of you who came, and all of you who have played important parts in her life. She is a happy, fun, sweet, smart and silly little girl. She has learned so much from so many people and I am grateful to you all for all your love, support and knowledge that you have shared with her as well as my other girls and me.

what we came home to after camping this weekend. Drunk driver swirving all over the road chose our vehicles to hit. The truck hit the boat and the boat hit the neighbors truck. He was an illegal immigrant who probably has no insurance. We wont find out for a week, but I can pretty much guarantee that he doesm't, he just gets a slap and the wrist and a free ride back to Mexico. And we get some wrecked vehicles that we get to pay for. What a justice system huh?

I spent the last weekend in my home town, Prineville. I attended my 10 year class reunion. I surprised that most of them didn't change much. Those partiers all got drunck and acted totally stupid, but it was kinda funny to see. I got to see some really good friends of mine and I had a great time. There was even some people that I was really surprised to see. I took my girls by the houes that I grew up in, and the new owners have totally trashed, so sad. I got to see my grandma also which was great.
This morning I got a job in the pediatric unit at the hospital. I will work an on call position and will also be trained to work in the OB if they ever need any help over there. I think that i will really love this job. The only thing that stinks is that I will be covering for one of there aids that is going on maternity leave, so it will be full time for about 6 weeks. I am only doing it to get my foot in the door. Thanks to all my family who is being so supportive and helpful with my girls.

THe Ludlum House

We had originally rented this house when we were living in Montana, in December. So Brett had the time off then. But when we moved back to Oregon and Brett got his new job he couldn't;t take the time off. SO Poor Brett dropped us off on Sunday and went back home to work till the next weekend when he got to come up. My parents, Jana, Heidi, Nate and Brenden were all able to come up and spend time during the week, and then on the weekend Brett's parents came up also. This house is out in the woods in Brookings Oregon. It sits on about an acre of grass surrounding it and a river right behind it. It was so beautiful there. We had a great time and loved the peace and quiet.

We enjoyed the hikes in the redwoods that we all took.

This is some pictures of the house. There was no running water and just a hand pump. There was a vaulted toilet that was kept nice and clean. Thank goodness.

This is my Dad spoiling me, giving me more light so that I could read. That is one of my favorite things to do when I camp. I got threw two of my twilight series books while there.

My Dad (the best dutch oven cooker ever) made us lots of good food. So did Heidi and Nate, we split up the days for cooking. When my family left for Nick's wedding that we had to miss. Brett and his parents came up. My Dad left his dutch oven for me to use, I made ribs and peach cobbler and I did a great job, even ask my father in law, he said that I did an awesome job. I was impressed with myself but wished I could have shown my Dad how well I did.

Thanks for all that came up and shared the fun times with us. And Keri we really missed you, the boys would have had so much fun, next year you have to come. This will be an annual things for us (when possible).

on Easter we went down to the river and taught the younger two girls to ride the four wheeler. Well Marissa had some help but Soph did it by herself. Kalyie went over some small jumps and loved it.

The last few weeks have gone by quite fast. I have been busy with packing and all the moving stuff. Last weekend we drove our car to Rexburg and left it at a friends so that my family can pick it up there and drive it back to Medford for us. While there we went to the Titanic exhibit. Which I have really wanted to go to. I find the story so fascinating. It was a great exhibit and Kaylie loved it. She even played titanic at recess yesterday and got so mad when one of the boys wanted to use there ship for his army. She had to explain to him that it is not for the army, it was a big ship that wrecked and lots of people died. It was funny when she explained it. All of you who have heard Kaylie tells stories can probably just picture her explaining this to this kid. She is a great story teller.
Some other funny things that have happened.
Marissa had informed us that when she grows up she is going to be a "lion". I am not sure how that is possible but that is what she wants to be. I do think that she is loud enough to be one.

We took our table up the the woods last night and burned it. We were really in need of getting a new one and so we cut this one up. When Brett turned on the chain saw Marissa started freaking out and crying, She did not want us to do this to the table. I tried to explain to her that we are going to buy a new one and she still was very upset. But when I told her she could come with me to pick out a pretty table then she settle down. Poor thing, she was so confused. maybe she thought that she no longer gets to eat.

The other funny thing that happened. My good friend keri went to get her hair done at the salon. I aid to Brett infront of the girls that I wanted to go see Keri's hair. They asked what happened so I told them that Dave (keri's husband) accidentally caught her hair on fire and she had to get it cut really short like a boys hair. They were very distraught about this. Discussing amongst themselves how she could wear hats and get a wig. Then when Sophie said family prayer last night, she was so kind as to ask that Keri's hair would grow. I had to call Keri after that and she got a kick out of it.
i will really miss when my kids grow up. Already I am having a hard time realizing that brett and I are done and will have no more babies. Sure no more diapers, bottles, and getting up allot at tonight. But no more tiny little hands and ears and toes. Soft little hair. Ok if Brett said that he wanted another so would I but I know that we are done. But anywho, It is sad to see your kids grow up, and into the more serious stage. I think that I want them to stop growing and just stay little forever. At least Marissa is still tiny.

Ok now today I have to call our the utilities, and start to pack up the rest of the stuff. My gaol: have everything packed bu Thursday. I could get it all done today, but I still might need some stuff. I hope that I don't run out of boxes. When we moved here, we burnt a bunch and I have not replaced any of those ones, so hopefully we will be ok.

Been Busy

Sorry I have been neglecting ya'all with my blog. We have been busy the last few days enjoying the nice warm weather.

Over spring break we went back to Oregon. We brought some of our stuff back to our house there. We built Brownie a kennel and did a few other things that needed to be done. We were able to be there when my Mom had her surgery, which I was so happy about. Things went well and she is doing great. She got her drain out yesterday. She was getting really annoyed with it. She had a little straw hanging out her nose. We told all the kids that all she had to do was put her nose in a cup and suck in. They were so confused. We also got to be there for Brenden's baptism. My brother Josh baptised him. Can I just say that I don't like how they do the stake baptism things. I am glad that we will have our own font for Kaylie's.

We also went to the beach and I will put some pictures up.
I also am gonna put some family pictures up that Keri took for us. This is the view from our park. We will miss the beauty of this country. WE will miss our friends that we have made and our branch family. We will also miss the pace that this small town brings, the small school for our girls, the animals that are all around us and I won't miss the cold and the snow.

Our Move

Well it is now official. We are moving back to our house in White City. There are numerous reasons why and we will miss our friends that we have made here. The main reason is that our house hasn't sold and with the housing market it won't for a while. I also am not liking this cold weather. When we went and visited last week in Oregon it was 70 degrees. It was wonderful.
Brett got a great job offer in Eagle Point, so any of you looking for a doctor Brett will start the second week of May.

Kaylie is in girls scouts this year and alreadu got two patches so I wanted to put some pictures up of her wit her vest. She has been begging me for years to lt her be in girls scouts and this year I finally agreed. She loves it and is having so much fun. SHe also got together with a nice lady from our branch who taught her to sew, and she made a blanket. So she is also going to get her sewing badge.

Brett was going to be working all weekend and Kaylie has a four day weekend, so we took off to see some friends in Utah. We got to see my good friend Julie Kane and spent some time with them. THe girls had so much fun with her kids. Then we went to temple square and I put up some pictures from there. We toured the confrence center and I took a few pictures of some of the beautiful art they have there.

They had this great exhibit for the kids, "I am a child og God", there are all sorts of fun things there to do. Marissa loves the Christ statue, she kept asking to go back to see Jesus.

The confrence center can hold I think they said 21,000 people. It is so amazing. There was many things that Presidnet Hinkley wanted. Like the comforatable seats for everyone and the beautiful garden on the roof.

We also visited the old chapel that the pioneers met in. Ididn't realize it but they has only white pine (i think that is what it was) so they had painted the benches to look like they were oak and they didn't have amrbel so there is big pillars that they painted to look like marbel, what amazing people.

just have to laugh at how funny Marissa is. She is at such a cute age and says the funniest things. Brett and I have really enjoyed her lately and just watch her and listen. We ask her all sorts of questions to see what she will say. We were waiting outside the hospital last night for Brett and Marissa saw the flag. She said there's the flag, it is big. I asked her how big it was and she said, "blue". No not what color, how big is it, she said, "Tall".

A week or so ago we were sitting in the truck reading while Brett was out riding around. Marissa said, "I'm boring." I don't think that she meant ti quite that way.

She was mad at me and thought of the worse word she knew, she said, "mommy, your a boobie!" It was so funny. Brett and I tried not to laugh and had to put her in the corner. But I could see her brain ticking, trying to find a mean word to say.

Anyway, she is so much fun. She loves to grab Brownie's tail, and she will hold onto it so tight, yelling, I got it.

I really didn't fall off the face of the earth. There just hasn't been anything exciting to post. I am going to be an aunt again, my little sister Jana, is expecting her first. Sometime in October, David is going to be home about the same time that she is due. So poor guy has to miss allot of the pregnancy. But she will be staying with my parents in Oregon, so she won't be alone. They are very excited.
We have been just chuggin along with our lives. Me in school, Brett is going to be working a couple days a month in Great Falls, in wither the ICu, fast track or Urgent care. Wherever he is needed that day. He is looking forward to the experience but not being so busy, once our house sells and we get our own place then he can quite. He is kinda hoping that he can also gets some time on the air flights. I think that he would love that.
Other than that there really hasn't been much happening.

Here is me and the girls at the lake yesterday. We went with our friends the Wendt's to celebrate Dave's birthday. When the sun was out it was very warm and felt great, but as soon as the sun went down it got cold fast.

It was very hard to ride out on the frozen lake, at first. I am not use to the frozen water, In medford there was never frozen water. After Keri told me that we didn't need to worry till April then I got out there and we had so much fun.

Since I can't drive my little car around here. I have been driving Brett's and he doesn't like that so he got me a new truck, which I love. And since I will be driving at night for school he got me a nice deer killer.

Brett got himself an acoustic electric guitar. He has been wanting one for years. He is turning 30 in March and I was going to get him one but he came home with one the other day. So now I have to think of something else to get him. Hmmm, shouldn't be to hard.

Well I thought it about time to update. This week I got all registered for school. Nutrition and maybe math. I only have to go over to Helena one day a week this semester. Then next fall it looks like I might have to get an apartment or something. I will be going over almost everyday. So we will see. But it is so nice to get back in the seeing of things and see an ending date in the future. I will apply to the LPN program that starts next January and hopefully will get in the first time I apply. There are also three nursing programs close so I think that might make it a little easier to get in. I have a great friend who has graciously agreed to help take care of the girls on the days that she will be home.
The snow is finally starting to melt and we have had one day of temperatures in the high 30's. That is a temperature difference of 60 degrees from a month ago. I am loving it. But it is making such a sloppy, slushy, slick mess everywhere in town. I can't drive my car at all and have been driving Brett's which has all wheel drive.
We have also decided to rent out our house in Oregon. We haven't been able to sell it and had a big fast last Sunday. We then felt like we should rent it, so that is our goal for next week. To sign with a property management company and get someone in the house. With that extra money we can then save up to buy one here. It was hard to decide to rent it. We thought about it many times, but we had put so much work into our house that we weren't to keen on renting. But with the way things seem to be going in the housing market this might just be the thing to do. We didn't always want to have a rental or to for investment purposes. So pray that we get a good renter. Anywho, hope everyone is doing well.

Here are pictures of the nine deer that were right outside the window this afternoon. We all went over to the window and stood there gandering at them. They were not affected by us being five feet away from them. They just dug in the snow trying to find food. They stayed there till even after we got bored of them and walked away. The bigger ones were not nice to the little ones, whenever they would get to close the big one would kick at it. Meanies!!

I just loved these pictures that I took of Kaylie. She is growing up so fast. She is 7 and will be 8 in April. She loves life, she loves school and her friends. She is a very social person. She loves to spend time in the mountians with brett, so far they have been able to take Brownie out to the go sledding.

She is a great helper, she really does like to help out. She washes the dishes. One time she stayed home while Brett and I had gone somewhere, when we came back, she had cleaned the house, set the table and had dinner ready. It was so sweet. She was so excited to do this for us.
What a joy she brings to my life. I am so gratful to have such wa wonderful daughter.

I just wanted to post cause I was so excited. This last month I lost 9 pounds. Yeah for me.
Last night we had our branch Christmas party and Kaylie sang, she did so good and was so cute. It helps her not being so nervous when she knows everyone very well and there are not to many people. I wish I would have recorded it but I was in charge of the program and the dinner and didn't have a whole lot of extra time. Plus Brett didn't make it cause he didn't get off work till 8:30. He has had an extremely busy week. He said he always knows it is going to be a long day when he only has one patient scheduled. Then he gets all the walk ins. Like an old couple who came in at 3:30 and said that they don't think they can take care of themselves anymore. Then there is lots to do after that. Brett wan't me to start doing some home health care a few hours a week for some of his patients. SO maybe I will be starting that, I can bring Marissa with me even.

Sophie is such a funny little girl. She is so shy and will not say a word to someone that she doesn't know. I love her to death she sometimes gets in these moods where she talks and talks and talks, for ever. A month ago she was in one of those moods so I sat there listening to her go on and on, and I didn't say a word, I would just nod. She wold finish talking about one thing and think for a second, realize that there was nothing else she could say about that subject and then would go on about something else. It was so funny it went on for 10 minutes this way.
Yesterday we had to run to Helena to get Arthur some food cause he was completely out, she napped on the way there so on the way home she was in a very talkative mood. She was watching Happy Feet, so was asking me and telling me about Penguins. All of a sudden, she saw one on the side of the road, it was great. Penguins now live in Montana, isn't that great:)

We got back from Medford on Saturday, we had such a great time. We left on Monday and drove straight through to Medford. 16 hours in the car. The girls were so good, we only stopped four times, we let the girls out to eat and pee. Even Rissa did so good with her pottying, she went when we stopped and had no accidents.

On Tuesday I got to see Kendra which was awesome. She looks so good she has lost a lot of weight and cut her hair. I am so proud of her, she is working and starting school next month. We went to dinner and then to see Twilight, I even brought Brett and he liked the movie. We also took Sophie to the mall and got her ears pierced, she has been wanting to get it done for a long time, she was so brave and loves her earrings. She shows them to everyone.

Wednesday Mom, Heidi and I hung out. We did a little shopping and got some great deals at Old Navy. Thursday we went to Brett's parents and spent the day with them. We had dinner there and the girls had a blast playing with all their cousins. Friday my grandparents came from Salem. It was so nice to see them. Marissa and my grandpa got along really well and had fun playing together. Heidi also cut me and Kalyie's hair, I will get a picture and post it.

Saturday we had to leave, once again we drove straight through only stopping three times.

We had such a great time and are sad that we didn't have more time to see more people. Our Next trip will be in June.

102 Year Old Man

Every morning Brett and I get up at 5:30 and sit in the hot tub together for about an hour. This is about the only time we get together alone to visit and spend quality time together. So here we were this morning siting in the hot tub and Brett gets a call from the hospital. A 102 year old man came in and said that he had an appointment this morning at 6:00.
"Come on who has an appointment at 6:00 in the morning, let alone it be on Saturday."
Brett asked how he was feeling and he had no problems he felt fine, he was just there for his appointment. So Brett had to get out and run down to the hospital to see this fella. I just found this to be very funny. Really doctors don't make appointments for Saturday. Oh well, Brett was just glad that he was already up and didn't get called in at all last night.

Our Luck

I am not sure if Brett and I have been cursed with bad luck, or if it is just some weird coincidence that we are always having strange things happen to us. Like the time that we went to go riding and got a flat tire on our trailer, or when we were coming back from camping and the back frame on the motor home snapped, or when we were up in the mountains and rounded a corner of pure ice and even with four wheel drive we were sliding, we had to undo our trailer and let it just slide off the road (it's a long story), anywho, In June Brett bought a brand new car, he bought it on a Friday and left on Sunday to go to his job interview in Montana, before he even got to Diamond Lake a deer ran into the side of his brand new car and he had to get the whole drivers side replaced. This may sound a bit like his brand new two month old motorcycle that we took to the coast but before we got there we hit a deer.
We were on the way home fro Bozeman on Friday and drove past a truck who flicked up a Rock and shattered the front drivers side window, so then we got to drive home in the 23 degree weather with no window. And we are planning to take this car in Oregon in a week, so we did an overnight ship on the new window but are not guaranteeing that it will be here in time.
Also we were suppose to stay that night in a cabin that we rented but it was getting to late to leave. So we decided to go Saturday instead, but when we got there the snow was two feet deep and the wind was howling, so needless to say we didn't make it to the cabin, but did have a fun day of riding in the snow.
Our Adventures will continue and I will tell you all about them when they do.

I didn't realize how windy this town is when I decided to move here. were in a valley and the wind roars through. We have a swing in our tree for Rissa and that thing is flying so high. There is no way to describe the wind unless you could see it, but there is defiantly no reason to do your hair. Now I see why people hear say that it is not snowing until is is snowing sideways. Anywho, we are keeping busy with our lives, this weekend we rented a cabin and I will post about that when we get back then in a week and a half we leave to go to Oregon. Thank goodness gas is so cheap to. Gas here is 2.06 and they say that it is going to be under two bucks for the rest of the year, but we will see if that actually happens.

Today is Marissa birthday and she is now three. I can't believe she is growing up so fast, but at least she still looks likes she is two. We celebrated her birthday on Moneday cause Brett has to go to Seattle for an advanced trauma life suppot class today and he was on call on Tuesday and Wednesday so we has her party ealry. I don't have any pictures cuase I video taped instead, but it was very fun and she was so cute blowing out her candles, let's say that the cake got sprayed. So now she is three and potty trained and growing up, I am sad but happy. She is such a cute, fun little girl, and a terror too. She getsin to everything and makes such a mess and breaks stuff.

I was sitting in the hot tub this morning and heard some rustling around in the leaves. It kind of scared me at first but I realized that there was a deer about ten feet away eating. I watched it for a while and it was slowly getting closer but then brett opened the door and scared it away.
There are so many deer and antelope everywhere around here. I wonder how long it will take me to quit getting excited everytime I see them. There are huge herds in all the hay fields and obviously even in our yards. I really enjoy it.

Brett wanted to go out riding so we found this really cool spot in the woods and had a fire. Look at these sweet chairs someone made by the firepit. While Brett was out he some a guy who flagged him down, he was a lost bow hunter. Brett came to the rescue and drove him back to his camp, he was getting ready to start to build a shelter. He even offred Brett money but Brett told him to just pay it forward.

Right after Brett and I got married we were janitors, Brett found a nice vacuum that they were throwing out so he took it. Anyway, I keep telling him that I want a new one cause we have had that one for 9 years. Every time that it has something wrong with it Brett fixes it. So the other day it wasn't working and I told Brett, he said that he would fix it cause his goal is to never buy me a new one ( he always teases me about this). He took it out to his shop after a while he came back in and told me "I won". It is broken and now I get to get a new one, some of you may know about this story and how I have been bugging him to get me a new one. So I posted this story for those of you who do know this and will think that it is funny. So we are going to Helena tomorrow to get a new one, finally after nine years.

It has been getting colder and colder here, and it is so windy, buurrrrrr. Anyway, we woke up to it snowing, they say that it is not snowing here unless it is snowing sideways. They get huge snow flurries over the passes. But is only snowed a bit, just enough to cover the ground, it looks like it will be snowing all weekend, the girls are so excited. They woke up early this morning and noticed the snow, so they came downstairs so happy. If we get a lot then I will post some pic's but nothing exciting yet.

Brett's job

Brett started his new job a couple weeks ago, his first patient that he saw he had to have her air lifted for an emergency surgery. Another one that he saw also had to be shipped out. Last week he had his first day of call. We had just gotten to bed and he got called in for a trauma. Some dumb drunk kid ran into a telephone pole and had a head injury, so once again Brett had to send him out as well, but he was able to get him stabilized and he ended up being o.k. Other than all that Brett really likes the family practise and realized that he is over all the excitement of critical care and traumas. They said he will probably only have a few a year.

On Saturday the community held a potluck for the new hospital employees, Brett's clinic that he works for is the Bair Clinic and it is owned by the hospital, they hired quite a few employees, there is a new CEO, new physician, a PA and Brett the FNP. There was a lot of yummy food, I wanted to try everything, but I didn't want to look like a cow. We had to introduce ourselves and there will be an article in the paper next week, I will scan it in when it is published.

I decided to put Sophie in preschool to help her with her social skills, at first she was so excited and then when we got there she was so scared and wouldn't let go of my leg. After three days of this I snuck out, once she realized I was gone and that she was fine, she was so proud of herself. She is now doing great and loves going, hurrah for her. She is making new friends and gets to paint everyday, and she loves art.

Kaylie was very nervous to start school, luckily she was able to go in the day before and meet her teacher, see her classroom and see how excited the kids were to have a new student. That made things easier for the first day. She was even invited to a swimming party her second day of school. Kaylie made the twelfth student in her class and they even have a student teacher in her class this year. I love the student to teacher ratio.

The Branch

When we moved into our ward in White city, I thought it was so small, well I was wrong cause I had never been in a branch before. The first Sunday that I was there, there was 19 people. There is my girls and four other children, there is no youth. The primary children meet all together, there is no nursery. Church is only 2 hours, we have sacrament meeting first and then alternate from having Sunday school one week to relief society and priesthood the next. I love only having ti for 2 hours. I am hoping that I can get put in Primary so that I can change the way that they do things. we will see. We meet at the community center.
Anywho, there is me and one other younger mother and the rest are older people. Everyone is so friendly and so grateful to have us there, they have only had the branch for 2 years, before that they had to drive to Townsend, which is 42 miles away. The gal that has the other children is Keri, she is wonderful. She has 4 boys, one is in Kaylie's class at school. Our kids get along so well, and have so much fun together. Keri and I have so much in common including that we both got married right after high school. I am so grateful for her and that we get along so well. I am happy to have such a great Friend, plus her husband is the deputy sheriff so he knows everyone and everything, which is fantastic.

I am not to fond of this house that we have to rent, but like I said it was either this house or stay in Medford till ours sells, and so far that is not going so smoothly. But here are a few pictures of the old place and our pet bee's i nthe tree out front. This house is so old that all th eplugs are only double prongs and we have had to get addapters to plug things in. Plus it is sinking down on one side, but the yard is huge and fenced, I will mention that is has not been kept up in years and it took us two days of mowing, hedging, sawing and edging to get it looking really nice.

But I am happy to ge here, the town is so nice, everyone is so friendly. Time moves at a slower pace here and it is so quiet and peacful, especially at night. I am going to be having a new phone number so for any of you that might wan that let me know, as well as my address.

Off We Go

We got our uhaul on Friday night, the 5th. Brett doesn't like to accept help from people, so we didn't ask anyone to come help us load, but I asked my brother Nick and he asked the missionaries. Thank goodness because we needed th help. Brett's parents came to they were so great, they stayed so late helping and came so early on Saturday and helped as well, thanks so much Patty and Devon, I love you guys so much. My parents took the girls to there house and watched them so that we were able to work, thanks so much to you also cause poor little Rissa was so confused.

Saturday the missionaries and Nick came again and we got everything loaded. Brett was great at getting stuff squished in there, we fit almost everything.

Sunday morning at the wee hours if the morn, we left. The trip went quit smoothly which is unusual for us cause we usually have some weird adventures. We stayed in Spokane Saturday night and then went the rest of the way on Monday.

We were all little sad to unload our stuff into our rental because we left our nice updated house to an old 1920's house that needs some serious work. But that was the only rental that we could find in the whole town and it is only temporary, so we unloaded everything by our selves. uggg.

Brett had to get back to work so he left on Wednesday back to Medford and I got the house all put together.

So in a last minute decision we are headed to Montana this weekend. I will miss everyone here and love them all, but I think that this is what will be best for my family at this time. I am not sure how long it will be until I have my computer back up and running so I will let every know when I get there.

Ode to Nate

My baby brother Nathan is 19 and leaves this Friday to go to Utah to the MTC. He is goign to Hoston Texas for his mission and will be gone for two years, we will miss him so much. He is a very cool person, very mature for his age. He is an awesome uncle to my girls and his other nieces and nephews. My girls love to play with Nate, he always takes time to play with them and it means so much to me. We will miss you Nate, and don't worry we will be sending you care packages quite often, just let me know what you need and want. good Luck to you and enjoy the weather there.

It had been a while

Well it has been a while since I wrote anything, so I am sorry. I got a job in the OB which I start in two weeks and I am so very excited. The OB is where I wanted to be so I waited for an opening and finally one came up. It is night shift, which since I don't drink coffee I have no idea how I will stay a wake. The only time I have stayed awake all night is when I or Kendra were giving birth, so we will see how it goes. But I think that I will love it, I get to do baby vitals and baths etc. etc.
So after four months of waiting for Brett he was finally able to take his boards yesterday and passed, of course. He was a little worried but he is really smart and I knew he would do fine. But now comes the realization that he will also be leaving in two weeks for Montana and the next time I will get to see him is a Thanksgiving. I already made myself cry by thinking about him being gone. I was hoping to be able to stay here and finish my schooling, but I don't know if I will be able to be away from him for so long. So we will see. I am thinking that maybe when he comes home for thanksgiving that we will go back with him. We found a really cheap house in town that I think we might just buy, then when ours sells we will rent that one and buy the one that we want.
So that has been about it, we have been waiting all summer and have not done much fun, other than boating which is a blast.

Great Day for nate

My youngest brother went to the temple on Saterday. It was a wonderful day for him and so amazing to spend the day with family in the temple. He will be leaving at the end of next month to serve in the Houston Texas mission we will miss him and are so proud of him

Day at the Lake

We spent the day at the lake today, enjoying our free time and being together as a family. It was perfect weather, warm water and temperature. Now it is back to the grindstone. Brett has already signed up for two extra days of work this week, and I go back on Friday after a month off. It is gonna be hard getting back in the groove of things. We have a lot of exspenses coming up, thank goodness we get 5 grand for moving exspenses, we alredy spent over 800 last week when we took a load up. I think we will spend every penny.

It won't be long then I will be starting my packing. We got a call from the realtor today from Montana. The owners of the house that we want to buy are going to consider letting us rent it till ours sells ,then we can buy. Pray that our house sells soon. I am glad that we might not have to separated.

My first visit

We took a load of our stuff up to montana last week. The town is very cute. They have the coolest pizza parlor/movie theater there. They have booths that you can reserve in the theatre to eat while wathcing the movie, they also have a room upstairs to watch the movie and eat while having the little ones not disturb anyone. It looks so cool. We found a house that we love about 12 miles out of town. It has the most beautiful views, but we have to wait till our house sells, so everyone pray that it does,please! We saw so much wildlife there, the mountains are so pretty. Everything runs at such a slower pace there than here. It will be good to get over there and settled, still haven't been to the branch yet. I have a number though, I need to call and find out more about it. I wonder if we will double the brnach, or if there is any other primary kids. Kaylie's school class only have about 17 other kids. WOW!

Montana or Bust!!

So it is true we are moving to Montana, Brett had accepted a position here already, but was contacted by the CEO of a small hospital in White Sulphur Springs. It is a tiny little town in central Montana. It is a great place to raise a family. We are leaving this next weekend to take a load of stuff. Brett is awaiting his Montana nursing lisence and then will be leaving, I want to wait till my little brother leaves for his mission in August. We will miss all our friends and family here but this is going to be so good for our family. Plus Brett will get his student loans paid back. We will be back to visit you all.

Naughty Little Girl

Marissa is starting to really push the line. She laughs and thinks that it is funny when she does something wrong. So Brett and I have cracked the whip and started sticking her in the corner, at first she would just laugh and try to get out, but now she knows that she better stay.

When I was at work she og tinto my fingernail polish, got it opened (I don't know how) and poared it out on our brand new carpet. Grrrrr! CORNER!!!!

Fun Times

Well it has been a while. There has been lots going on. I just finished my 88 hour class for upgrading my CNA certificate. Brett is pugging a way at his last term of school and his three days a week cliniclas. We have the house up on the market, in hopes that is sells in less than a year. I really would like to not have to switch school's for Kaylie next year. And we all just got over having pink eye, all of us except Brett.

Kaylie turned 7 and got her ears pierced, she was very excited. She has been asking for years, Brett told her when she was 12 she could. But I finally talked him into it.

I was brave and took the kids to the coast by myself yesterday. That was fun.

We Finally Decided

With Bretts different job opportunities it has been so frustrating not knowing where we were going to be in a few months. I was at the dentist and when I came home Brett told me that he called and accepted the job closest to here. It is the position in Ruch, three days a week and Murphy the other two. I am very excited to finally know.
So now we have been trying to get all the last touch ups done with the house to put it on the market here in the next week or two. Who knows how long it will take to sell it, the market is so slow now.
I am ready to move and take the next step in our lives.

Brett was offered a job with his last terms preceptor. It is a great opportunity. HE will be working three days in a clinic in Ruch, where he will be the only provider and then two days in Murphy with his preceptor. The opportunity would be of taking over the Ruch clinic. It would also be his best paid position also.This is his best offer yet and one that we are seriously considering. The only down fall is that in order to be able to get a house and land that we want he will have to make a 39 mile commute back and forth three days a week. We aren't sure what to do?
Then also comes the decision about what to do with our house now. Sell and make close to nothing on it or rent it and keep as an investment???
I want Heavenly Father to just tell me what to do, I am not good at making decisions, and nither is Brett.

Spring break, Break, what is that??

So spring break has come and pretty much gone. We planned to take the kids to the zoo, and of course that didn't happen. Because it is Brett's only break from school, and we still have many updates that we want to do on the house, we spent most of our time working on the house, then the day that was devoted for fun it rained.
So we put in the rest of the new windows, four all together. We carpeted the three bedrooms. And still realized that there is so much we want to do before we sell. Do we even bother? Or should we just rent our house out? To many decisions. But at least were one step closer.
Now I sit at home cleaning up a weeks worth of mess and Brett is out riding, enjoying his last day of freedom. Tomorrow I work so he is with the kid, then he works all weekend and then his new term starts. Last one wahoo!!!!

Easter

Easter was a crazy day. I was in a cantata(?) for church and was doing it in both wards, so I had to get me and the girls ready then be at the church by 8:20 for some practising. Then perform in both wards, I then came home and made Brett's birthday cake, cleaned the house after being gone at work for the past two days. Then we left to go to Brett's parents house for dinner. Once we got there it was more mellow and we had a great time. The girls did an Easter egg hunt with there cousins. It was a good day. Even though everything was crazy, the spirit was very strong at church. It was one of my most spiritual days, and I had a hard time getting through some of the songs without crying. The Savior truly loves me and has made such a sacrifice. What a wonderful thing to celebrate.

Arthur

my girls have been begging for a pet for years. We tried out a gerbal once, that didn't last long. His name was Mikey and he definatly wasn't people friendly. So we gave him to a handicap guy who lived in our neighborhood and he was so gratful, he came over later and gave us a rose.

We would love to have a cat but Brett and Kaylie are so allergic. Brett has allergy induced asthma so a cat is out of the question.

A dog? well we don't have much space and time for a dog right now. We promised the girls we could get one when we move and have some land.

So we felt so bad for Kaylie because she has been so sad that she had no pet, Brett got her a parakeet.

It is a good little pet. His name is Arthur. We have had him for a few months now. He sings when we run water, and he likes music. We tuck him in each night with a blanket over his cage, and within a minute, he flies up to his bed. He sleeps on his highest perch. It is kind of cute that he has a bed.

So anyway, he is still getting use to us, when we first got him, if you put your hand in his cage he would just nibble on your finger, now he will climb onto your hand. And we have been starting to leave his cage door open so that he can get comfortable to the outside world.

We also are letting him come out if he wishes. Last night he was out for a long time. Marissa was a wake and was afraid of him when he flew right at her. At one point we couldn't find him, he had perched on Brett's elk horns hanging on the wall, and then on my shoulder. I was afraid he was going to peck at my eye. He did like my hair though.

So we have been having fun with our new little addition.
